The Problem
The high costs of orthotic systems lead to insurance refusals and unaffordable care for patients. Additionally, these devices are too heavy and fail to support the body’s biomechanics. Customized orthoses are still traditionally manufactured, which is time-consuming and results in low profits for skilled workers. As this profession declines, the lack of skilled workers will cause pain and serious health issues for society. This issue is particularly urgent, as the market for orthotic systems is projected to expand by up to 100% over the next 25 years. This growth will be significantly driven by the increasing number of war victims and the needs of an aging population.
The Solution
We automate the entire process from data collection to central production for nextday delivery. Using biomechanical calculations and machine learning algorithms, we optimize fiber material distribution to address muscle weaknesses and misalignments for each patient. Our custom machines place fibers in three dimensions, making our materials as strong as steel yet light as plastic. This results in the most accessible, lightweight, and supportive devices on the market.
